Getting Ready

The count down has started and today is 22 days until we depart.  Keep in mind that is our "hopeful" day of departure.  Mainly we set a date so that we would get out into this heat and humidity early in the mornings in an attempt to get things ready for us to leave.
There is so much that needs to be done when you are planning to leave the "sticks and bricks" for a year!  How do you close up the garden when the tomatoes and beans are still producing?  The asparagus bed, all 16 feet of it looks like a forest.  Strawberry plants are everywhere.  The fruit trees have fruit but are not ready to be picked yet.
This week we repainted the front porch - all white with the floor blue.  Yesterday we worked at placing more metal poles and piping to make the shrubs into an archway over the walkway towards the garden and back of the house.  Humm, sounds like we are fixing up not putting to bed, LOL.
Maybe today will be the day to burn the piles of brush that is piled up from cutting down a couple of trees and overhanging bushes from the "back 40".  But how do you start a raging fire when it is supposed to be 90 again today?
More when we take a break,
Brona and Thomas
